Dear all, I received a message today from Monoblog (http://izmirdailyphoto.blogspot.com) who informed me that any access to blogspot and to blogger websites has in general been suspended in accordance with the decision of the Criminal Court of Peace in Turkey. That means that bloggers there cannot log in into their own page or into any other blogspot/blogger pages for a while. He does not know how long this situation will continue and asked me to let you know about this through my blog, because he will neither be able to answer people's comments nor upload new photos.

Stresa in Autumn...

Last Friday noon people were still sunbathing here with temperatures of 27° Celsius. Today the season is behaving as it should do: it is getting colder.

Music in our mountains

When you really want to relax...

... go to the Dolomites. This mountain area, at about a three hours drive from where I live in northern Italy, offers the most spectacular sceneries for long walks and excellent food and white wines in small and very clean family-run hotels. I took this photo in late summer but I wanted to show it to you all the same because yesterday it seemed like summer here on the lake with temperatures reaching 27° Celsius.

Art Nouveau at its best

A detail of the lid of a 30cm long and 15cm wide 1900 Art Nouveau glove case which was used by my grandmother. The case itself is in brass but is covered allover with this spectacular inlay of enamel in different colours. The inside is lined with dark mauve colour velvet.

Pffffffff.....no hunting today...

Angera (just opposite Arona on the Lake) has a somewhat oldfashioned atmosphere. It seems that you are drawn back in time walking there along the lake, especially when it is raining like it did the other day.

All to ourselves

Beautiful Arona is empty during the week when only a few discretely wondering tourists enjoy the autumn sun together with the Aronians. It is the season for mushroom (porcini) and chestnut hunting in the woods and hills which surround us. The right season for searching for small restaurants with friends during the weekend after a long walk along the mountain paths , for winetasting in the various wineries of the area and for visiting art exhibitions in the galleries in the towns around the lake. In other words... the good part of life (without closing our eyes to the other part of it).
