Thanks, Rose! I found these not so long ago in a carboot sale here in Italy. They are from the fifties and I paid only 1 Euro for the two of them. My wife is very pleased with them, because they are beautiful.
How beautiful! Thanks for your comment on my blog. I'm glad I found yours. Where is Arona? My grandparents were from Pettorano Sul Gizio in L'Aquila.
Re: Raku pottery. . . .Have you tried it? I read that it is a very delicate process, and pieces can break easiyl. Do you have any of your mom's pieces?

Hello Chris!
16th Century Arona is on Lake Maggiore in northern Italy, about 60km northwest of the city of Milan, in the Province of Novara.
Pettorano Sul Gizio is a beautiful village based on Roman foundations in the Province of L'Aquila with many archeological sites.
Regarding Raku: I have unfortunately no RAKU examples of her pottery in the initial state. I have a lot of her later works but unfortunately no Raku
1 Euro?? That is what I call a bargain!
Your wife is very lucky and she has very good taste because they are really lovely.
A small price for such pretty treasures. The person who created these figurines is a master.
You put it such a nice way!!
Beautiful work, and if raku, amazingly skillful!
Treasure hunting at it's finest!
Fantastic lighting-perfectly aligned shadows.
Thanks for your kind comments, Abu Dhabi!!
