Another one...

This manor is not far from the one I posted yesterday.

Them old dwellings

There are some private homes of this kind along the lake between Arona and Stresa. Not all of them are approachable like this 18th century one. Other estates can only be seen from the lake.

At a quarter to nine this morning...

the sunlight enhanced the beauty of the two churches in the square where I live.

Blanket over the lake

After the heatwave at least the temperatures are bearable again.

Such a pity!

A new building, next to where I live and right in the middle of Arona's beautiful historial centre, will take the place of an 18th Century theatre, which had - architectually speaking - already been ruined over the years after the transformation of it into a cinema.
The old building with some restoration in the original style, could have become a cultural exhibition centre but speculative actions have not allowed so, notwithstanding the collection of many signatures in favour of such a centre.

The Alps

First of all, thank you for all your kind comments, especially for my wife!!

We are back again from a wonderful holiday in the Alps. The weather has been very good to us and the clouds were often helpful, so that the sun would not burn us alive. We took our small family home in Madesimo (1550m) as our base but made long walks also on the Swiss side in the St.Moritz area, which I consider as one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Europe (after the Dolomites). I will post some more photos during the forthcoming days.
