Doorbell...

I took the photo of this 18th Century building in The Hague because of its special doorbell.

I want to take this opportunity to post a comment on your site to thank you for the compliments you have made in you comments on the Daily Photo site that I started for Costa Rica about a month ago.

Your photos are spectacular and very creative. My wife and I visited Bellagio on Lake Como a few years ago and were absolutely enchanted by the beauty the Italian lakes and charm of the towns. Perhaps if there were a casino in Las Vegas named Arona, we would have chosen your town for our first trip to your region. After seeing the photos on your site, we will definitely want to try to visit Arona on our next trip to northern Italy.

ZMmm ... what door bell? So I saved the image and opened it and zoomed in. There is a door knocker - I think. There are what appear to be three buzzers down the LHS of the doorway. THEN I saw it - that magnificent overblown roccocco "thing" down the RHS of the doorway. It is a magnificent terrace - very tastefully restored. I wonder if the doorbell works - were you game enough to check?

I love photographs of beautiful doorways and this one really caught my eye. It took me a minute to find the doorbell as well. Your photos make me want to visit.

Thanks for you kind comments, Molly!!

I really appreciate your comments, David!! I am glad you like the environment of our lakes. Lake Como, together with Lake Maggiore, has spectacular views and historical buildings around them.
The small lake-town Arona is special to me and I hope you will like it as much as I do when you decide to visit it.

Dank je wel, ineke!! She is getting much better and already advances her rights on her bicycle ("that nobody even thinks of selling it!")

They let me try the bell, Julie, and it jingles inside the hall-way but people are asked to use the buzzers!!

Thank you for your kind comments, Virginia!!

Thanks Omami!!
