The Alps

First of all, thank you for all your kind comments, especially for my wife!!

We are back again from a wonderful holiday in the Alps. The weather has been very good to us and the clouds were often helpful, so that the sun would not burn us alive. We took our small family home in Madesimo (1550m) as our base but made long walks also on the Swiss side in the St.Moritz area, which I consider as one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Europe (after the Dolomites). I will post some more photos during the forthcoming days.

Diederick,
We are all so glad to have you home and ready to show us some gorgeous vacation photos. Most friends will run the other way when you drag out vacation pictures, not this group !!! Today's photo is a great start. Hope you and your wife had a delightful and relaxing holiday.

Thank you, Mary Jo!!

Thanks Jilly!

Thank you too, Mo!!

These mountains are spectacular, although the most impressive ones are north of Verona: the Dolomites, which are even more stunning and worthwhile a trip, JM!!

Thanks, Metromanilla!!

Thank you for your kind welcome-back words, Virginia!! Yes we had a wonderful holiday in these stunning sceneries!

Good for body and soul, Suzanne!!
I know you prefer the Dolomites, and so do I but I can assure you that these parts of the Alps are also really stunning. The Valley of St.Moritz, epecially in winter, is something to be experienced.

About mountains, I often go to Val di Susa, which is very picturesque.

Crikey this is such a magnificent photograph! How many mountains did you manage to climb?

Diederick Wijmans said...

Thanks for visiting, Chris!!
I climbed many of these mountains over the years and will continue to do so. There are hundreds of well-indicated paths all over the Alps. You just need a good physical condition to be be able to make these long (average 6 hours)walks. Cheers!!
